About Produc-T

Produc-T is a collection of original-designed men’s and women’s T-shirts as well as related accessories. With a design studio in New York City, a printing studio and retail store in Shanghai, our designs intend to offer a global perspective on life in today’s Shanghai, one of the fastest growing cities in the world.

Many of our inspirations come from the collective memories of Shanghai residents, if not all Chinese. No other city in the world has gone through what Shanghai has in the last 60 years. From the most prosperous city and fashion capital in the Far East in the 1930’s, to a city that require its residents to wear navy and green Mao uniforms. From the playground of opportunity-seekers, to a city that sends tens of thousands of its youth to rural China to be re-educated by the “poor and lower-middle peasants”.

Although the economic boom in the past 30years has made Shanghai regain some of her lost glories, dichotomies are still everywhere. Such contrasts and conflicts of ideaologies create many ironies that inspire many of our designs.

All our T-shirts are silk-screened by hand at our Shanghai studio, using the most eco-friendly inks. We never use pre-made T-shirts. All of our shirts are made to our specs at our designated factory.

While some may see Produc-T as a line of Shanghai, or China-themed souvenir T-shirts, there are much deeper and broader messages within each one of our design. It’s up to you to interpretate them.

We are here to record and commemorate a city’s history. We are here to celebrate a city’s present. We are here to inspire thoughts on a city’s future.
